HELP PLEASE !!! - D90 Problem

Evening All,

I've just noticed that the memory card access lamp on the rear of my D90 has continued to flash on/off when I turn off the camera. It does not do it when the camera is on nor when I remove the memory card and I've tried a different card and it still does it.
I've had a look at the manual but can't see anything that specifically mentions this.
Anyone any had this happen or got an idea why its just started?

It should only happen if the buffer is still transferring to the memory card when you switch it off, basically it finishes the transfer then stops flashing.
If it is doing it for another reason, I think there may be a problem.

The D70 used to do a that, it may not be the same problem, but on that camera it was known as the BGLOD - the blinking green light of death.....
 
Thanks everyone, very reassuring..... :eek: I can feel a call to Calumet coming on. I've only had the thing for a month so I suppose my first port of call will be them.

Why not ask Nikon how it is supposed to function first. Then when you go to who sold you it they will not be in a position to fob you off.
 
It would appear, friend Flash, that it was indeed the BLINKING GREEN LIGHT OF DEATH as when I switched it on tonight it was completely lifeless. It was no more, an ex D90 f it hadn't been in the camera bag it would have been pushing up the daisies. It has joined the choir eternal and gone to meet its maker.
Anyway, I phoned Calumet and they said bring it in. So off to the 'Pool I will go on the morrow.

As it's so new, I would expect a direct replacement from Calumet. I'd certainly be surprised if you don't get offered a replacement.
 
Have you tried a different battery?
 
All hail PPP. the man is a genius and I am a klutz. I tried another battery and miraculously the camera is ok. I must have put the same battery in when I tried the other night.
