No
I have a Plaubel Makina 67 that I purchased last autumn, and have loved using. The winding level felt like it might be skipping a few gears, but with two actuations it spaced the film perfectly, so I didn't make too much of it.

Fast forward to two weeks ago, and I brought it into a CLA at Aperture, because I didn't know the maintenance history.

Kriton said that the winding mechanism is partially stripped, which I understand is a fairly common problem with Plaubels. The problem is he doesn't have any spare parts, nor a way to get them. (He said the whole winding mechanism has to be replaced.)

Any ideas??

(It should also be said that I brought it to Sendean Cameras, who wanted £1,000 just for a CLA [!!!!] ).

Possibly (?probably?) an expensive option would be to get a clock/watch maker to build a new winding mechanism. Or, you might be able to find another identical model with a different problem and use that as a donor for the required spares.

Welcome to Talk Photography @homerbklyn I've moved this thread to our Film & Conventional section because the knowledgeable folk that hang around in there don't often venture into other areas of the forum

Yeah apparently getting a new gear built will be £1k+. I've emailed around a bunch of places asking if they have any cameras for donor parts, but no luck so far.

Wiese Fototechnik in Hamburg say they have the part and can do the repair, so that's looking like my best option. (Though expensive!)

Can’t they sell the part to you? It’s going to cost an arm and a leg just to ship the camera to Germany and back, especially once you’ve added all the import/export/VAT fees then you’ll have to add in the cost of the actual repair

You could try emailing Bellamy Hunt at JapanCameraHunter.com?
He might know of a source of parts or a donor camera in Japan..?

Yeah, that's as close as I got.
Maybe before Wiese took over Plaubel you could have got something done in the UK, even Mamiya would have been worth a shout since they were making them for a while.
But, the contrition continues..:(

I find it strange that no one is specialising in making gears and other mechanical parts for cameras. Nearly all of them are very simple in terms of engineering.
especially in these days of small CNC machines, gears would be very easy. They would often end up far better than the original part.
over time such a person would end up with digital data for all the common wear parts. some could be laser cut, some printed, and some machined. All are the sort of things model engineers do an a daily basis.
