Hi, I hope you don't mind a newbie barging in like this but I really need some advice!

Its my friends birthday and since the beginning of the year, she has been into photography in a big way, buying a lovely camera, going on courses.

She really likes taking pictures of - I don't know how to describe it, background stuff, kind of odd signs, funny buildings, things that are where they shouldn't be, i'm not explaining this very well but her photos are very good in a quite edgy and ironic way and are sometimes a bit dark.

I thought I'd like to get her a book of photographs in this slightly off the wall style or maybe even something she would find useful but I've been looking and without any prior knowledge of this stuff I'm stuck!

Can anyone recommend any or throw me further ideas to explore, it may be that I cannot find anything because I am heading down the wrong path. :bonk:

My budget is about £20. I am happy to track stuff down on ebay if necessary.

Any help gratefully appreciated.

Offty.

Hi, me again, I am bumping this in hope, - is this not the place to ask this? If not, can anybody point me in the right direction?

I'm new as well and while round at a freinds the other night I read the first of Scott Kelby's Digital photgraphy book it was excelent, I picked up loads of little tips that I can't remember now so I will be buying both of them they are about £7 or amazon.

I did feel a little bad that I sat and read a book while I was there.

I can remember the tip of not cropping at body joints like elbows and knees but thats about it.
