Hi there.

I have just sent a payment to kerso using paypal but it has been sent as en e-cheque and wont clear for 10 days!!!
i have a verified account with paypal and have no idea why this has happened?
i thought the funds should have come out of my linked bank account immediately?
i noticed this when i was making the payment but 'e-cheque' was the only option it gave me. i have checked the paypal website and its about as much use as a condom to a cathlic!(no offense)

any help is much appreciated as this has really p***ed me off.

cheers

Alex

Has your card expired that is used as a backup source?

Do you have a backup source to your bank account?

In both of those cases, Paypal will send E-Cheques rather than an instant payment.

cards are in date and all details are correct...

paypals website is less than helpful :bang:

You have to be careful with Paypal, they have it all set up to make it as hard as possible to make a payment using a credit card. I'm always withdrawing funds from my bank account isntead of paying by cc because someone has asked me a question or something like that whilst I've been doing the payment.

Get kerso to refund the payment and resend it, making sure that your cc is the source before sending payment....

first - i think kerso is on holiday very soon so, this may not effect the delivary time anyway

second - log into paypal and have a (very close) look and check all your account details - paypal will place a restriction on large payments until you have got the limits lifted - there will be a warning notifying you of this in your account section

Third have paypal verified the bank account? - if you don't know then they have not...

forth, after checking all of the above is correct - and correcting the mistakes you have found - cancel the payment, and redo the transaction and see what options and warning it gives you

from the paypal website: -

"If you do not have a Balance, or your Balance is not sufficient to fund your entire transaction, PayPal will fund your transaction, or the remainder of your transaction, in the following order:

* Balance (if any)
* Instant Transfer from your bank account
* Debit card / credit card
* eCheque "

looking at this paypal should only use echeque if it has a problem with the others or that the user has mistakenly selected this payment option...

i hope the above helps

ps phoning them wont help as their customer service sucks....

my account

what does it say in status?

i have just set up and paid an echeque and then tried to cancel it using the options you describe they are all there for me and the system has allowed me to cancel

is your payment to kerso showing the status as pending or completed?

sorry i've run out of ideas other then... (new idea)

contact kerso - get him to cancel or agree to refund when it goes through -redo payment now that you have the cc details sorted

are you sure that the bank details have been verified and not just your postal address - should not matter now that the CC details are correct

if you think of anything let me know! thanks again

I'd be surprised if you could cancel an eCheque, otherwise no one would accept them?

The recipient can cancel it.

This sort of thing usually happens when your registered card expires (without you realising). If you ring Paypal and persevere through their telephone system :bang: you will probably get through to someone sensible who can tell you what's happened.

But if you're in no rush, just let the e-cheque take its course.

Cheers,

Exactly the same thing has just happened to me... only given eCheque as an option (even though I had a valid credit card as a backup funding source)... sent payment via eCheque and phoned Paypal to find out what was going on. They said they needed to reset my card and then I'd be able to make an instant payment, though I would have to ask the seller to cancel the eCheque. Did this and he cancelled it.

Went to try and make instant payment and Paypal again refused. Phone them up and they said that this transaction had become a security risk. Told them this was bullsh*t and that they were forcing me to try and make a payment outside of Paypal. They came back with a standard apology line (how they regret to loose a customer... didn't say I was leaving Paypal, but anyhoo...)

Got on to the seller and asked if they would accept a payment outside Paypal - he said no, but was prepared to wait 7-9 working days for an eCheque. Explained that even though he had cancelled the initial eCheque, the funds were still 'in transit' from my bank account to my Paypal account and if I had to make another eCheque payment, then the money would come out of my bank account twice, which I could not afford to do. The only other way was to wait until the funds arrived from my bank account for the first cancelled eCheque and then make an instant payment. Thank god he agreed to this otherwise I'd have been in big sh*t.

I've never had problems with Paypal in the past, but that is because I've always initially had money in my PP account. But because of the cost of this item (quite pricey), I had to go the bank-transfer with CC back-up source route and that just screwed everything up. :bang:

The only thing with an E.cheque is that even ***' its cancelled it will still come out of your account. It will then take paypal about 2 weeks to refund the money.Paypal told me it was an automated service that could not be stopped.Check you bank regularly over the next two weeks to see if they take the money out.

A similar thing happened to me when a seller mucked things up at his end I ended up paying twice and waited over a month for the first payment to eventually find it's way back to my bank account.
It's all engineered to hang onto your money for as long as possible whenever a transaction does not go through without a hitch.
How often does this happen out of the millions of transactions worldwide? so how much money are ebay/paypal hanging onto at any one time, must amount to a massive interest free loan in withheld funds from ebay members.

Virtuallythe same as me.I tried to buy a lens of some-one here.it went thro as E.chegue for some unknown reason. The seller informed me immediately and we both cancelled the transaction.i send Him the money, but as said above still came out of my bank account. We made the transaction on the 5th of month,it came out of bank on 14th.I never got it back until 1st of following month.had to phone paypal quite a few times. This was also expensive
