Help on Aperture & RAW workflow

I've only recently started shooting in RAW, I use Aperture on my Mac (although my PP skills are a bit limited!), and I'm a bit confused about what to do after I've finished editing. How do I export the finished picture and do I need to convert to JPEG, and if so how? I find at the moment that from a 25mb RAW file when I use the Export option it ends up as a ~500kb JPEG

Any help or advice great fully received.

Hi Shaun, I can't advise on Aperture, I use lightroom to process RAW files but they both do a similar function.
When exporting from LR, there is an option to size the file I am exporting. Do you have this option on Aperture? I know I have to scroll down my export window to see the sizing box so you may be overlooking this. HTH Iain

Thanks Iain, yes do have a size option but even when I select the largest it still doesn't come out very big, and certainly a lot smaller than if I shoot in JPEG.

When the Export screen comes up click on the Export Preset box. At the bottom you'll see an edit option. Clicking on this will allow you to edit the settings for size and quality of each preset, or create your own.
Export 16Mp files to JPEG original size, with quality set at 12 (max) gives me files sizes of between 2 and 5Mb, depending on the content of the image.
