HELP! Olympus SP720-UZ

Hey guys, I'm thinking of taking Photography for A-Level and I was wondering if the Olympus SP720-UZ would be suitable? If not, do you have any recommendations? Or any features that you think I would really need?

Probably not. It appears to have very few manual controls, which I think is something that is critical if learning photography at any level.
I would think you will want a DSLR, even if its a older generation budget body.
Something like a Nikon d40 or canon 450d.
