hi all:) i dont post much but wondered if anyone can help, got a nikon coolpix s6 as a backup but the screen has gone its just all black:thinking: it turns on and i can go through the menu and take pics but there just black. anyone any idea, its only 2 half years old,worth fixin or buy new one?

Could be the sensor that is knackered, heard it happening a lot on the Canon Powershot models with the CCD sensor. Don't take that as gospel though, hopefully it is something simple and you get a few more replies.
 
Assuming the screen still displays menus, it does sound like it might be a sensor problem - also assuming of course you haven't left the lens unopened :naughty: ;)

It might be worth popping into a local camera centre [preferably one with knowledgeable staff] and getting it checked, just to make sure its not something obvious you are missing and at the same time, you can have a look at newer alternatives, though of course don't do that until AFTER they have had a look and maybe offered some idea of repair costs.
