I am loving this iMac but have come across a problem I have an external disk drive and tried to use this to install the disk that came with my printer canon ip4950 do these only work on pc I did download some drivers off canon but they don't give all the utilities or options that are on the disk hope you can understand any help appreciated

go here...

http://www.canon.co.uk/Support/Cons...series/PIXMA_iP4950.aspx?type=download&page=1

select SOFTWARE, then in the OPERATING SYSTEM drop down select your version of OSX. you should then see a driver in the list along with all of the other software.
Thank you for that but I have already done that and it has a lot less than on the disk in particular it has a part that allows you to print a pattern for colour adjustment which I use frequently rather annoying why not do a disk for macs thanks again for helping

the masc versions of canon printer drivers are often cut down sadly :S
So I am beginning to realise why though

I guess I'm the only on than that appreciates mac printer drivers don't have all the bloat ware around it. What is wrong? What is missing?

I've never installed a printer software, just use the drivers it comes with, simple. Then again, I never use them for printing photos, unsure if the actual software would do a better job somehow.

Hi the software that was put on my pc included various programmes but the one I was really interested in was in the printer preferences which had View colour pattern this allows you to print a pattern for colour adjustment this was linked from colour options unfortunately this is not showing in the downloads also there is no preview button I just don't understand why the disk isn't pc and mac although I must say I am really loving the mac learning stuff every day

Yes thats all right if the drivers provide everything you need when printing

What colour adjustments based on that pattern? The drivers and paper are working great under OS X colour management. Just pick what you use and the system does the rest.

The reason that isn't available because it works differently and much more integrated. It just isn't necessary.

Hi
on an A4 sheet it prints pattern instances so I can look at and pick the best or closest to my image colour on the screen I suppose like a profile. Underneath the one you pick is the colour adjustment numbers which you use in the Cyan Magenta and Yellow part, I have found these very good and helpful As an aside I do have my monitor calibrated
