Over the past week or so my Dell laptop has been suffering from slow page-loading on my wireless network ... sometimes like walking through treacle!
It could be related to the setting up of a guest network a while back, which seemed to dump me off the network on the main 'connection', the guest network was then removed and I did manage to get the main connection restored.

Since all of this I have done the following:-
  • Re-booted and powered-down the router numerous times.
  • Removed the wireless network from the laptop and restored it.
  • Run CCleaner, Malwarebytes & Kaspersky scans.
  • Updated drivers from the Dell website.
  • Removed Firefox and re-installed.
  • Removed Firefox and installed Google Chrome.
I may be wrong but I don't think it is my network, or my ISP because when my laptop is trying to resolve a page I can use my phone to instantly download that same page and also check broadband speed as good ... sometimes I can make a cup of tea as well!
It's not like this all of the time but it is most of the time and I am now at a loss to know what to try next :(

Dell XPS L502X
i5-2540M 2.60GHz
16GB
64-bit
Win7 Home Premium SP1

Router is Asus DSL-N55U and has latest firmware.

Any suggestions would be appreciated :)

Have you tried changing the channel of your router?
I haven't, no ... I've checked all surrounding wireless networks and none match mine (3), the nearest is 1 and then most are 11 with a couple at 6.

Maybe, I'll give it some thought, thanks :)

Working fine again ATM :banghead:

The thing is Gramps, we had a similar problem and it turned out to be a faulty connection at the exchange, which kept buggering up the channels.

Have you tried plugging your computer directly into the router via ethernet? If you still have the same problem it will at least rule out any issue with the wireless card and its configuration.

I have, yes, although there was some improvement (expected) it did not resolve the issue.

If you're with BT, check and see if you're connecting to BT Fon via your router. It's incredibly slow.
