I have been asked if i could set up for a series of photos of a construction site to be taken at hourly intervals during daylight hours ove a period of about five weeks. Digital - wide angle and battery pack. I hear that possibly a Nikon (Hate to say that word) 200 might do it.

Suggestions please.

Canon TC-80N3 Timer remote Controller Phil?

CLICKY

I thought about this - will have to investigate and see if it will awake a sleeping camera. If so my old 350 D could be the beast in the hutch which would be better than investing in Nikon! It is a big piece of gear that is having the building constructed around it instead of the other way with no chance of publicity photos so withing reason cost is not a worry. May even get a trip to Ireland out of it - but knowing my luck I will sort it out here and the box of tricks wil be taken over by one of the cmpany.

Thanks folks - just looked it up and with a 20D body should do the trick with a weekly visit to change card battery etc. Now to get down to designing the waterproof hutch.

If you have Canon.................

Hook your camera to your PC via USB cable and switch it on.
Launch ZoomBrowser
Click Aquire and Camera Settings.
Click Connect to EOS Camera.
Click Remote Shooting.
Click Tool -> Timer Shooting.

Or Eos Utility and then remote shooting and play with the settings.

And if you hook your camera up to the power outlet you have all the power requirements.

I used to be many years ago a Nikon user but had Canon since A1 and AE1 and then into EOS systems . . . . great believer in bien loyal to ones brand although I recognise that each have their own merits and it is the finger on the release that counts.

Thanks everyone - regarding PC link and mains power - this could be a problem as I envisage a setup high on the edge of a large construction site so want something secure and weatherproof that will only be visited to change batteries, card and reset timer. The whole thing must not be conspicuous as to attract the light fingered!

Try this as I think you can set 1-399 exposures with time intervals, and all you need is a camera (batteries fully charged though :D)

if price is no object i could be hired to sit on a ledge in ireland and take a picture hourly - sadly it'll have to be a nikon though :)
