Help need to clone please

OK... This is probably really basic but something I've always struggled with...
What's the best way to clone out the fire exit sign in the image attached?
I struggle because of the gradient of the background.
Can anyone give any tips?

Farley close selection then Edit>Fill>Content aware. In PS. Is it a relatively small part of the whole image?

If content aware has trouble then I'd make a selection of the wall where it is clear, copy & paste it over the sign & then use masks to blend it in smoothly. Content aware is probably your best bet though.

Yeah relatively small... really noticeable though....

I cant seem to get this right.. Content aware almost works.. Not sure about masking a cloned area to be honest

OK a lot of practice... Content aware fill and additional cloning at about 50% flow and opacity works a treat!! thanks guys

Content aware fill to get the heavy work done, then a targeted heal brush to finish. Use the heal brush's "brush preview" to line up the smple point first.

See video (play in 1080P-60fps)... only a quick 1 minute job, so you'll get better with more care taken than I've just done, but it shows you the method I'd use.
