Help me with an EDC camera please.

Now need to decide if the Lumix 20 mm F1.7, Oly 17 mm F1.8 or PL 15 MM will be going on it (and I need to buy one of them).

I've had these two. I think the Oly is the better lens with that lovely pull for MF function and lovely metal case and the Panasonic has a limitation... something to do with the slow focus not being able to do continuous focus? Or something like that. It never bothered me as I only shoot single shot. The 20mm is more compact though and I did keep mine and sold the Oly 17mm f1.8.

It is, in many different fields.
...and yet, despite my having a wide variety of interests, I had never come across that acronym previously.

It brings us back to that (admittedly, rather trite) saying that one "should never assume, because it makes an ass out of u and me".

In this day and age it's a simple enough matter to copy and paste an initialism into a search engine and enlighten oneself. LMGTFY :D
Maybe I’m just an old fart, maybe it’s cos I live in a world of formal communication where TLA’s are a significant part of the culture but audiences are varied.

IMHO It’s rude to ever assume that your audience understands initials or acronyms, it’s drilled into us to always explain first time of use in a document.

Of course it’s easy to google. But it’s flipping rude of a single writer to force an audience of dozens to have to go and research what their question means in order to help them.

YMMV but I agree with Phil.

;)

Glad that debate has been done.

Everyone has an opinion and are welcome to it.

I see some comments on threads on this forum where members are having a dig at one another (quite often). In fact of all the forums I'm on, this one tends to have the most debate and disagreement, that leads to members taking a pop at one another.

Must be an age thing ;)

I just ignore it and move on.

Enjoy the weekend

Just want to say thanks for all the responses to the thread.

Went to Wex

I tried the Ricoh GR IV ( I think that was the one). The Fuji MX5. The Fuji XE 5 and the OM5 ii.

Went with the OM5 ii.

For me, it's smaller and I can use my existing lenses on it. The only other one I would have considered was the Fuji XE5 with the 28 mm lens but it was £1499.

The OM 5 ii was £850 (after cashback) and has 5 year warranty.

Looking forward to getting my hands on it tomorrow.

The Lumix 20mm 1.7 is a nice lens, the slower focus speed I have read about has never worried me, seems fast enough.
There is also a 12-32 collapseable Lumix lens with stabilisation, not fast but very useful and small.

The Lumix 25mm is bigger, but extremely good.

Thank you @Sangoma

I had the 20 mm also and had no issues with it. For the purpose of this camera I'm not worried about quick AF and tracking, got the others for that. Just want a nice small camera that brings back the fun of photography for me.

Ultimately this will be the wife's camera when I inevitably buy another lol (means laugh(ing) out loud - save people looking on Google. Can also mean lots of love).
