I have just taken this picture-Its not a great picture I know...
It is of running water in the sink.
What I need help on is how to get the detail of the running water rather than just a blur if you know what I mean?
I don't know what setting I need to change on my camera in order to pick up on the detail...
PLEASE HELP!!

1.5" F6.4

To freeze the water you will need a shorter shutter time, but in order to acheive this you will probably need more light otherwise you'll get a really dark exposure.

Try a shot with a shutter speed under a second and a wider aperture (so a smaller number then F6.4).

Hope this helps.

:bonk: Ok well now im taking the picture and he result is pretty much a black picture?! whats going on? Can you give me a rough guide to as what my camera maybe should be set to...e.g. shutter speed and aperture! Please! :bonk:

Use flash and that will catch it go manual f:11 shutter 1/160 and flash on. That will get you what you want. ;)

I am new to Photography too, but I have found that if you increase the shutter speed, you need to increase the light, ie by using the flash.

Show us the new pic when you have taken it :-)

Thanks and yes thats the camera I have. It is a good camera but you can't change the lens on it just to let you know.
I have another camera (Nikon F55 35mm SLR) which I can change my lens on so I wasn't fussed about not being able to change the lens on my Fuji. Im currently looking for another DSLR which I can change the lens on but im taking my time with which one to buy.:)

Glad to see you got it sorted Keira. Nice final shot.

(by the way, the S9600 is not a DSLR).

Good on you for experimenting with different things Kiera :) The end result was worth your patience
