Ok is it from a raw or jpeg? single or multiply images. without knowing what the original scene looked like it's a bit hard to say, but this looks pretty natural to me, think I'd like to see a bit more detail in the rocks though.
Processed with multiple (3) images 2 stop intervals in RAW then a few tweaks to levels and sharpening ect in CNX2. The rock took on a greeny/blue colour so left them a bit darker to disguise the fact but I take your point.

One thing I find is that they look better (in my opinion at least) desaturated slightly. I tend to shoot 7 exposures in raw, combine them in Photomatix and tweak in Photoshop.
