Help me decide which lenses to take!

I'm off to London for an overnight tonight and spending the day in London doing a bit of sightseeing. St Paul's, maybe a bus tour or the south bank and Tate modern. That kind of thing.

I'm still learning and have a habit of taking my full kit with me wherever I go. But I really don't want to lug everything with me this time. Ideally I want to limit it to 2 lenses so I can take my smaller crumpler bag. What would you take??

- Sigma 10-20mm
- Canon 17-85mm IS
- Canon 50mm
- Tamron 70-300mm
 
That was my initial thought. I'm just slightly in love with my 50mm and hate the thought of leaving it home alone :D
 
Agree. Sigma and standard zoom. 50mm is so tiny, so if you feel lost without it, put it in your coat pocket. Leave the telephoto home, unless your purpose for trip is some candids.

10-20 + 50

No real need for the 70-300. The 10-20 covers the bottom end of the 17-85 range and the 50 covers the top. You can crop to 85 pretty easily from a 50 and not loose much. For inside pictures you'll want the 50. Plus, the 50 can do shallow depth of field that none of the others can.

Right ... I'm packed :) I've squeezed in my 50, the 10-20 and the 18-70 into my smaller crumpler bag and am leaving the Tamron at home.

I bet I see something tomorrow now I wish I had the zoom for :lol:

... And wouldn't you know it. Got upgrade at hotel and we're on the 17th floor overlooking the London eye and big ben. The Tamron would have been really handy!

But think of the wide-angles of the skyline you can get from up there! Everyone has seen a close-up of Big Ben and the Eye...:D

p.s.
my last walkaround I rarely needed anything longer than 50mm... you can get very up close and personal in london, everyone is used to it...:clap:
