I'm based in Essex, and really want to find somewhere decent to go tomorrow. Got a busy Sunday ahead of me and could really do with some "me" chillout time whilst I have it on Saturday.

I was initially going to attend the Mopar Euro Nationals at Santa Pod for something different, I've only ever been to Pod once when I was younger.

Since then I've been reconsidering - mainly because rain is very likely tomorrow, and Pod shuts in the rain, if I remember correctly?

I then looked at what's going on and Silverstone is the same distance (2 hours) and they have the Classic meet on.

Really can't decide which one is most worth 4 hours of driving for!

I'd be really up for that, sadly it's about 4 hours each way which is a bit further than I'd like really. 8 hour round trip would be a bit overkill :-(

Thanks for the suggestion though!

I'm tempted by Silverstone but my understanding is that my 70-200 f2.8's reach would be nowhere near sufficient.

The Silverstone Classic is advance tickets only, so unless you have tickets already, you won't be able to get in (not sure why they do this, but them`s the rules).

The drag racing at Pod will stop in the rain (the cars all use slick tyres) but there will be other things on (looks like some drift demonstrations) and the paddocks are always good to walk around.

Not sure what is easiest to drive to, but there are club bikes racing at Donington and MSV racing at Brands Hatch with a good mix of GT and junior open-wheeler action. Unless we get some sort of monsoon rain, neither of these events would be stopped by the rain, although neither circuit really has any cover, so take an umbrella.

You always have the MSVR CLUB CAR CHAMPIONSHIPS on the Snetterton 300 tomorrow only.

Would have gone but double booked myself [shakes head]

Thanks for the advance on the Silverstone Classic, no ticket here so think I'll be avoiding that!

Did think that happened at Pod, shame but understandable, it needs a roof! Too far to go whilst rain is forecasted to risk it really. Could turn into a MAJOR disappointment. I see drifting a lot so Pod's one isn't too exciting for me, I can cross it off sadly.

Brands is 40 minutes, but I was there last weekend on the GP track so going back to Indy so soon might feel a tad disappointing, for the sake of the short journey I may well consider it though. Thanks for the umbrella advice!

How are these? Would it be much better than the Formula 4 at Brands? It's an extra hour and a bit further so a fair whack.

Vintage motorbike racing at lydden Bill and scooters as well which is right old laugh.
Unfortunately I'm not going as I still haven't got my camera back.

In regards to silverstone, here's someone's pictures with the same lens you have I think so it can be done just not full on in your face head ons.

Thanks Dex, I might consider this if it's as good as you say. Shame you won't be there, what is going on with your camera?! I'd be doing some serious chasing up if I were you!

That got knocked on the head earlier sadly, but I may well venture there sometime this year.

Thanks guys

The meeting at brands I'm pretty sure is on the gp loop as In autosport they've been reporting British gt drivers racing to get some practice in on the gp loop.

With my camera they phoned Wednesday to say that what ever they've tried so far has just thrown up error messages but they said it will be fixed by the end of this week so hopefully ill get it back working this week.
