Help me choose a budget monitor...

The Dell UltraSharp U2715H has caught my eye and seems to get a lot of good reviews.

At the moment though I'm just using a cheap Medion monitor (about 19-21") that came with the computer around 6 years ago. The main problem I have with the current monitor is that printed photos are a lot darker than on screen....

I've been into photography for many, many years, spend a lot of time in Photoshop, but it's a part time hobby for me at best. So I'm not looking for the cream of the crop. I just want something fairly accurate, that I can rely on. And around 27".

One thing I'm wondering, is do I need to go up to the budget of the Dell, or can I get something almost as good for half the price? I mean, let's say I spend £150, what would the real world differences be? Would the average person even notice, without getting out calibration tools and all the rest of it?

Any recommendations?

Ended up with a Dell Ultrasharp u2515h. At over £100 cheaper than the 27" it was more justifiable to me, and noticeably larger than a 24" screen (I believe it is higher resolution than the 24 as well). A vast improvement on the cheap 19" monitor I had too. Quite happy with it so far. Whilst the 27" would be noticeably larger again, and of course nice to have, it does feel a nice size.

I got the Dell 2415Q 4K screen, absolutely brilliant. Works well with Windows 10. But a little bit more expensive, well worth it though.

Does the higher pixel density make the text look quite small? I have got the older u2713hm and 27 inch seems to give a pixel pitch at 1440p similar to my old hp zr22w 21.5 inch 1080p screen

I'm finding the text just fine, but my eyesight is pretty good to be fair. I suppose everything is on the smaller side of the spectrum, so would be personal preference I guess.

If you were concerned mostly by web pages though, you can zoom in on your browser and increase the size of the text.
