Little birds, rabbits and anything cute and furry ... ;)

Nah! ... Just kidding really, couldn't do it even if I had to

I've been using a cheapo BB gun for some photo shots (nothing living...honestly.. :)), but it's just not up to the job! so I need a decent .177 or .22 pistol?

Any suggestions or recommendation would be appreciated ... Budget up to £100

Thanks in advance

I've heard of a "photo shoot" . . . but this ain't what I had in mind! :D

Should be able to get a repeating co2 pistol for around £100.

Little if no recoil and you should not have to move it between shots to reload, if it is in a fixed position.

Shame it has to be a pistol. I have a Weihrauch air rifle I would gladly sell for £100. Not sure why I bought it in the first place, to be quite honest. :p

Which model is it?

as said above, your best bet would be a CO2 pistol with a magazine.

Thanks Tom and Richard for the advice  I've been looking around and found several that seem to fit the spec :) trouble is I can't buy on-line so will have to take a trip out, probably best anyway

I did consider a rifle but I don't really have the room and clamping it would be a bit of a pain ... Thanks anyway

Ah, shame. Thought I had a sale there. :D Yeah, it was a bit of a bargain. It came scoped too.

Sorry for the thread hijack...

Which scope is on it?

Sorry for the hijack to the OP.

this store has a good selection. surplusstore they have a good selection of replicas, bb and others. only problem with the blanks is that new laws mean they have to be a bright orange colour so that police can distinguish them from real ones.

Your best bet is a single stroke pneumatic as CO2 tend to be quite noisy and the power output will fluctuate a bit with temperature etc (I own quite a selection of air pistols as I used to shoot practical pistol and 10m). The Webley Nemesis is a good choice as would be the Gamo PR15 or PR45, all should come in under £100. Be aware that you will have to buy in person, mail order can only be sent to RFDs (registered firearms dealers) and NOT residential addresses and this will incur a surcharge and assumes you have an RFD locally who's willing to play ball... Bloody Labour gov't...

Edit: Forgot the Beeman 2004e

I use a rat buster

Single shot runs from a small gas cylinder
great for killing feral pigeons at fairly close range with a red dot / laser sight

Thanks for the info Carl! I feel the pneumatic type would be a real pain to use, due to the way the gun would be mounted and maintaining accuracy with the set up ..

Chris, I have been looking at that gun and it seems to tick all the right boxes  More importantly I have a dealer near to where I work who stock it ! I'll have a drive round tomorrow to take a look

I was also considering one of these Crossman 357 Have you any experience of it?

Thanks again everyone for the help.

Sorry Steve never used one, but
for a "bit of fun" and what you want it for it might OK
That type are reputedly inaccurate and always under the stated power. (Lbs / ft)
Except the "Brocock" but like all good things they were banned.
( or added to a FAC I can't quite remember off hand)

I never had any accuracy issues with the rat buster BTW

Crosman Accu Pell are good. Hear the Powa Pell is also very good.

Been using the Accu Pell in the HW-77 I am borrowing off a friend.

Although a bit older and you might struggle to find them elley wasps are a nice cheap and decent pellet to use, had some brilliant results from them before i sold up :(

That's not very PC.
 Excellent!

Oooh! that's brought back memories, I used those a long time ago  I'll see if they're still available :)

Thanks everyone

I use vermin dumdums in the Hw77,mainly for greys.

do you need it for "kill" or "effect"?

Thanks chaps

When I bought the gun, they had pointed, hollow and some others! What I'm looking for is something that will give the best splat effect with fruit, glass etc... :D

Certainly won't be killing anything that can walk, swim or sing .... :| .. :)

This was my very first photo and shows what I'm trying to do

Vermin dumdums will create a good "splat"................

Well they do with grey squirrels heads.

If you check in on the collectables section at the Airgun BBS

http://www.airgunbbs.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=22

you will soon find a classic Webley overlever pistol for under £100. Maybe not as convenient as the CO2 repeater type but a lot cheaper in the long term and if you wish to sell will always be worth what you paid for it.

Didn't check your location but T & J McAvoys near Wigan always has a few in stock - http://www.guns.gb.com/erol.html

Hope you get sorted.... just re-read the post and see you have.. should read more before posting :bonk:
