Help identifying a lens mount

I've been given a tair 11a 135mm 2.8, however I don't know what the lens mount is? I thought that it would just be an m42 but on closer inspection it seemed to have a nikon adapter already on it. i took this off (unscrewing the adapter). the pictures are with no adapter on. sorry about the quality, they were just a couple of quick ones. is it praktina?

It's a M42 mount
 
They are legendary for their bokeh - huge number of aperture blades inside!

that's what i thought it would be but it isn't, look at the second picture. all my other SLR lenses are M42 and i thought this would be too when i was offered it.

i've seen :) i was quite excited to get my hands on one, just need to find a way to fix it my my camera

The Tair 11-A IS a M42 mount, it was only made in M42 mount, are you sure you took all of the adapter off it?
 
Rugeyes you're right, you need a mount adapter. M42 and Nikon mounts are available
Not sure about any others. They are fixed on the lens with three screws around the rear of the lens, presumably like the Nikon mount you have.

this is what i thought. i've looked on the bottom of the adapter i took off and it says T-NF Japan, which is clearly not the original. i presume i now need to find something to put over the lip that has an M42 screw on it.
 
T-Mount to Nikon F adapter from the sounds of it?

According to a poster on this thread, these lenses can have the M42 mount removed and replaced with a T-Mount, which may have happened to this lens.

typical that the photos have gone down ages ago. from what it says and looking at other T mounts then it looks like it.

The T-mount was originally a sort of predecessor to the Tamron Adaptall system, namely where you buy the lens and a mount adapter for it so you can use it on lots of different camera systems.

Surely the T-NF means that the lens already has a Nikon T-mount adaptor on it?

I would check with some more pictures of T-mount's (take the adaptor off if possible), and a Nikon F-mount before buying anything. I find the photos you uploaded a bit difficult to identify...

:bonk: Mis-read it completely! I would say that is very likely a T-mount from the pictures and description there so all is simply needed is a T-mount to M42 adapter or whatever mount is needed. What are you trying to mount it on?

Be very careful if you should ever have an actual M42 mount camera, don't try and screw a T-mount lens on it as although the circumference is the same, the pitch is coarser and will strip the thread on the camera mount.

Clearly there is an additional fluted ring, part of the M42 mount.

I never really inspected the mount or its relationship with the lens, it appeared to be a natural marriage, but it may not have been.

Thanks for the link. I think it is a natural link. Mine is the same as yours (obviously as its the same lens!) but if you undo the screws just under the made in USSR then the M42 bit will come off to reveal what I have. Thanks for the picture though it has cleared it up for me
 
I've got a micro 4/3 camera so I think I'll go straight for that mount rather M42 and then attach it to the other adapter I have on my camera.
 
I've got it working. A t2 to m42 adapter seems to work, although I'm slightly worried about the grip. I took the inner ring out of the t2 bit and then screwed it back onto the lens. I'll post a couple of pictures tomorrow.
