Help! I cant get my photos!

Hi,
I'm new to photography and talking some people, they said that I should only shoot in RAW as this would give me a better image, and then change the image in Photoshop, I have Photoshop cs5 and well it says it can’t recognise the photos. Some of them are really good and now I can’t get them is there anything I can do? and is there any program which I should get? also if it does all work out how would I edit the RAW photos.

The disc that came with your camera will allow you to import the RAW files and adjust etc. and save to tiff for further editing. The Photoshop version you have may not have the latest RAW converter (they keep changing the spec), you could update it, but the free Nikon software should do fine.

CS5 should recognise D3100 RAW files. Are you using Bridge to browse your files before opening them in PS?

Go to the Adobe website and download the latest version of ACR, that will allow PS to read the raw files from your camera.
