Help!! I cant download images.....

Having a big problem downloading images. I have used my "new" 50d for first time and shot in RAW. I then went to download as normal using bridge and photoshop and it wont open the .CR2 files :shrug: Have tried on two laptops etc. but it just keeps saying "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document".

I have checked the settings and theyare exactly the same as on my old 20d which I never had a problem with. Iam panicing as these shots are for my homework and although I can see them on the camera, do not understand where I am going wrong.

Anyone got any ideas of things to try please, its driving me mad :'(
 
Update the raw plug in from adobes website
 
Had a look but I dont know which plug in I am looking for :thinking: I only got Ps4 a few weeks ago and so I would assume that it had upto date files on it anyway. Also, I have been using it no problem before today with the new camera but now it wont work with new or old camera :'(

Ok I just tried that but it says that the update server is currently offline so will keep trying. Thanks for helping. Not sure that it is the problem now, as it wont open shots I have just taken on the 20d either. Oh for the love of god!
 
You are looking for the Camera Raw update. It's a small download and needs to be copied to your Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/CS4/File Formats folder (or at least that's where mine resides). Remember to back up your existing Camera Raw file first just in case.

I know I keep asking stupid questions but I am stupid! Screenshot shows the list of files currently in my CS4. which one do I need to backup and then replace cos I cant see anything that remotely looks like RAW :'(

If you have a legit copy of CS4,

Just select your operating system (looks like windows to me) and download Camera Raw 5.6 download here

Forget the backup as it isn't working for you anyway.
 
Thanks Jim, it is a legit copy so I will try this later when I get home. Fingers crossed!
