HELP! HELP! HELP!

Well lets hope the wedding photographers who specifically choose to shoot with a FujiS5Pro dont stray into this thread

Next we will be saying we all ought to be shooting Canon, as anything other than a L lens is not up to scratch

Are you saying not shooting with lenses that are at least 2.8 on a crop sensor will mean the wedding photography will be poor?

I tend to stay out of wedding threads, but if David is indeed saying what I think he is, then he needs to have a good long look at himself. Smacks of pomposity and lack of understanding.

Several years ago, I was a guest at a wedding I had been asked to shoot (our best friends) but declined as I was still in full time employment elsewhere and pregnant so not really up for it. I took along my 20d, kit lens and 100mm macro. I took some pictures and popped them on a disc for the B&G. They also had a disc from their pro tog as it was part of the package they paid for. The pro came highly recommended, friends and family had both used him and his big manly pro camera and it's very expensive glass!

Recently our friends decorated and put 12 framed pictures up on their walls. 9 of them are the ones that I took... I asked them why and they said that I had simply captured more of their personalities, more character, atmosphere and *shock horror* they thought the image quality was much better than the pro's!!!!! The 3 pro pictures they had up..... group ones that I was in and so not shooting! I have gone full time with my photography because the experience I have described above has happened to me again and again and I now have a 7D that I love and am proud to call my pro kit whether you class it as such or not.

There is so much snobbery about kit but I have to say sometimes it doesn't matter a bit as it's the talent using it that counts. Notwithstanding that I get annoyed with the huge number of incompetent photographers that do just go pro with a 20d I think we need to judge each individual on their own merits.

I didn't mean it that way - easy to miscommunicate in text

what I was saying was that without the option to have a shallow depth of field you will be limited to certain shots, it won't be a stylistic decision it will be something made for you, which I think is to be avoided like the plague as control is important

not counting the many many low light advantages

oh and the S5 has many many funkyness's :D shame it takes crap lenses :p (this last part was a joke internets)

Many rants on here. One thing to remember is that due to the digital age and everybody having usb sticks and discs etc with the images on it is very difficult for shop staff to know. So although people get all upset about refusal, in a way it is a good thing because the pro tog does not get ripped off. The staff have been sued before in certain stores, that is why they have to have written proof, to clear themselves. Sometimes a little bit of balance is needed in these situations, not arrogant attitudes.

You know the issue has been resolved and the OP has his pics (as per the post immediately before yours)?

i wonder why i got no O levels for reading the whole thread:razz::D

I can assure you, SHE will take exception to YOUR mistake regarding gender! :D

For a member that has managed to accrue such a large post count, I'm surprised you've made such a basic mistake!

I'm confident, despite evidence to the contrary, you're occasionally capable of being an equally "cool" and charming lady Geoff! ;)
