Hi all,

Can you have a look at the above link - this started happening today to my shots. It was always the second shot if I set to continuous. Weird eh?

Anyway, the camera is about 1 month 'old', bought used from Digital Depot in Stevenage. Obviously my first call tomorrow will be to them, but where do I stand here? I'm certain that it'll be covered under warranty, but my camera is my working tool and I need it most nights for various jobs...

I've tried resetting the settings, and using a different compact flash card (interestingly, this first ocurred when using my new Sandisk cards), but I'm really worried about this. IF this were to happen for a 'work' shoot, I would lose business.

Any suggestions or ways to help tackle this greatly appreciated!

Cheers,
James

thats not looking good. Ring DD and see what they say

I have seen that before somewhere. I think on here, but cant remember :(

And now, if I take as many shots as possible, it will eventually hang and just say Busy or Err 99.

******* great.

Cheers,
James

You're right JL ... ... we have had something very similar on here before ... ... blowed if I can think where either ...

Definitely a return to DD called for - they are normally pretty good with problems ... may even loan you something if its got to go back ... ;)

... was this it ... HERE ...

:p

Well I'll just have to hope Digital Depot will be nice - I can't afford to be without the camera right at the moment as I have a lot of work going on...

We'll see, must say I'm rather upset about it - a total pain...

Thanks,
James

The sensor is attached to the circuitry via tiny wires almost like a ribbon, each wire represent a line of pixels. I wonder if the problem is caused by these wires not being attatched to the board correctly, causing the steaking evident in the pictures. If you gently shake the camera do the streaks move or get better/worse. A similar thing happens on laptop screens after a while, something to do with constant movement. This may not be the case, but is quite common where electronic displays are subject to a bit of (gentle) abuse.
Dean.:)
ps i do hope the problem is resolved quickly for you.

Ouch, not good at all James, don't you have a backup camera though?
I'm sure DD will be good about it due to the age of the camera, best of luck though & make sure you let us know if you find out what the problem was

Arkady had a suspected banding problem with one of his Nikons in The Far East IIRC?

Ooohh nasty and expensive. Looks like your cam needs a trip to the hospital

Just a thought - but have you tried turning it off and taking the batteries out and letting it calm down. Then replace batteries and CF card etc.

Fingers crossed it gets sorted quickly.
