Help For Heroes Charity Fund Raising Weekend - 20th & 21st March 2010 - Leeds

Sorry...guilty as charged...will do that later today...

How many people from here are attending this? I think it would be a really good weekend, trying to see if I can get anyone to come with me to split hotel costs... (and travel costs too as I would have to travel from Scotland on that weekend).

I am still trying to get my husband to commit if he and our son are coming down or not. If they aren't and you can split the costs of hotel and petrol, I'll be driving down and will be passing down the M8/M74?

Tickets are being sent out this coming Monday (unless you have requested otherwise).

If you have not yet ordered a place, then take a look at what we have got planned for the weekend............

Quality, affordable photography training and a party that is going to ROCK!

Saturday 20th March 2010.

All day training with Martin Grahame-Dunn and Paul Haley - See The Light.

Ever struggled working in natural light? Working indoors causing you problems when light levels are low and you can't use flash? Then this is for you. Come see how the trainers do it themselves at weddings and natural light portraits.

Event Photography Workshop

Thinking of entering the Event photography market place? Thinking of moving into the schools photography sector? Not sure what equipment you will need? This seminar with Mike Weeks answers all of your questions.

Saturday Night Fund Raising Party.

An evening of FUN FUN FUN. Join us for a buffet, disco, raffle, fun auction and a few beers.

Sunday 21st March 2010

Studio Portrait Lighting Introduction.

With so many options available, which equipment do you choose? What is the right lens? Which lights are best? What is the best way to trigger studio lights? What are the best poses? What are the best backgrounds? These and many other questions will be answered during this workshop by Phill Andrew.

Controlling A Wedding Master Class.

Ever felt out of control at a wedding? Wondered how you can possibly do everything the couple want in the short time they have given you? Zoe's simple approach puts her in control at every wedding she shoots, and ensures that her couples get more than they thought they'd get when they see their wedding album. In her workshop "Being in Control of the Wedding" Zoe Richards will share some of her tips for making things work for her at weddings, from her timeline, to her pre-wedding meeting with the couple.

Sales, Marketing and The Business of Photography.

Sometimes we can't see the woods for the trees and all it takes is for an outsider to make a few simple suggestions and you can increase your turnover.

Why is "Shoot For Show" as important as "Shoot For Dough?". What is the difference, it's all about my clients spending money and me paying the bills right? WRONG! - Come find out why Shoot For Show is so important.

Tickets still remaining so get in touch if you haven't already ordered yours.

Full details are available here:

And if all that isn't enough, all profits, yes 100% of ALL profits will be donated to the Charity!

Hope to see you all there :)

Times a running out :)

If you haven't booked your ticket yet then let me know, not many tickets left!

Seconded - Great weekend and i think we all learned a little something to help our businesses along.
Plus we all now know who has the Biggest Package, who is a good businessman but a lousy photographer and who should leaflet-drop his neighbours to avoid having out-of-area Phots 'steal' business out from under them...lol

Just a quick "Thanks" to all those who attended.

I'm still suffering big time and about to start a full day of learning with Guy Gowan :)

Lastly, a HUGE thanks to the Owners and Moderators of TP for allowing us to post about the weekend. Thanks!

Agreed

I only got to the two workshops hosted by Mark and Zoe on Sunday. Thanks both, learn't some valuable information along the way and was a pleausre briefly meeting you both.

I learnt a hell of a lot and had a good time, was nice to meet a lot of lovely people and a big thanks to the trainers who somehow managed to make sense to me, was good not to feel that I was way out of my depth

Have heard rumours, and they are only rumours, that there MIGHT be a H4H event in the South of our fine Country somewhere around the end of October.

Maybe even a Halloween fancy dress H4H party :)

If I hear anything, I'll let y'all know :)

So much for "I'm never doing this again!"...lol

So much for "I'm never doing this again!"...lol

I will attend, I will support, I will donate........ I will NOT organise (well at least not this year) hehehehehe :)

The time and stresses involved in arranging something like the H4H weekend are huge. So many factors to sort out, sleepless nights are just the start of it but I have to admit, once all the dust has settled and the money is in and you see how much you have raised, it is hugely satisfying to say the least. We are still tallying up but looks like we have done our target!

Maybe a 2011 H4H charity fund raising event in Germany Rob? Just the excuse I need to come back over and sample the German beer and food again

Sounds good to me - especially as I can do without the DVT in my legs from all the driving...lol

Rob,

I've got all the images from the Saturday evening party. They are really good, you were very James Bond-esque lol, if you want a copy, let me know and I'll fire them over.

Here's one I can publish. Our thanks go to Mike Weeks from http://www.dorsetphotoevent.co.uk/ for driving hundreds and hundreds of miles to cover the event for free, for donating his time, equipment, skills and knowledge and for making us all laugh!

A big thanks to the Trainers for their input and support, and a HUGE thanks to Simon Brown for telling his story and making us all think!

Target was £2000.00, funds raised thus far is £1449.00 so we are £551.00 short at this stage.

We have two collection tubs still to come back in and people are still donating via our JustGiving page.

If anyone would like to send a few quid the way of Help For Heroes, you can do so at: http://www.justgiving.com/click4heroes

Appreciate every penny donated :)
