Help for a Canon 1100 for complete beginner

I’ve just got a Canon 1100 for work purposes and don’t know the first thing about photography so am having a few issues

Firstly, the WiFi option; I was under the impression that I could take a photo on the canon and it would link straight to my iPhone, however I have somehow linked it and instead it turns my iPhone into the camera for the canon?!? Really not sure what’s going on

Secondly, I’m taking pictures in landscape mode and the quality just really isn’t what I thought it would be, I thought I’d get better photos than my iPhone but at the minute the iPhone pictures seem to be better quality which surely can’t be right?

As above I’m a complete novice to any kind of technology really, it’s a Canon 1100 and I have a lens on it which I think is 18-55mm?

The 1100d doesn't have native WiFi, are you using an adaptor?

As well answering this question.

If you are seeking the sort of advice as in "I am trying to photograph (insert subject here) but how do I improve on the results I am getting......" then please expand your request with some examples pictures posted to show us exactly what you are getting?

PS where are my manners ~ welcome to TP it is a great resource to learn about photography :)

What do the images that you are unhappy about look like - it's helpful if we can get an idea of what's going wrong in order to advise you.

I will be taking pictures of furniture and antiques, however whilst I’ve been playing around with it I’ve only been taking pictures of the room etc, they just look a little fuzzy and the quality doesn’t seem to be all that

Sure it’s not a canon 1300D? Are you connecting with canons camera connect app? If so then when you’re in remote shooting mode you should see on your phone what the camera is seeing and be able to take the picture.

iPhones can take great pictures. May be worth getting some lessons to get the most from your dslr.

Once you have a connection, you can control the camera from your phone using the app. Thoughif im honest, it’s rarely useful, though being able to download your images for sharing is a great feature.
A modern DSLR is a versatile picture taking machine but works best when you use it like any other SLR camera (eye to the viewfinder, point it at something interesting)
Your iPhone is a small computer that can take pictures, in actual quality terms, it’s a terrible camera, but when viewing the images on the device, they look pretty good.
The big difference between the 2 is that the DSLR allows you more control over the results, the better you are, the better your pictures.

So I guess I’m confused by your questions:

What exactly are you trying to do?

What problems are you having?
