Help. Father in Law has forgotten his laptop password

F-in-L has forgotten the password to his laptop, I mean really totally forgot.

Is there any solution to this problem?

Look up Ubuntu and chntpw, pretty simple to do, plenty of guides out there. Just need to make a Ubuntu live disk

Have a look here... You will have to download the app and create a disk and use that to reset the password.

did you set an administrator pass when it was set up?

if not try administrator and blank password.
