I rather stupidly broke my EOS 5d yesterday:bang: . Whilst comparing cameras with another photog we were swapping lenses and I tried to fit an EF-S lens to my 5D (I know, I know!) and broke the diffuser at the base of the prism.

One repairer is quoting 3-4 weeks turn round but I would like something faster (and prepared to pay for it).

Any ideas anyone?

I can't help with a repairer but sorry to hear about the damage mate, hope you can get it fixed quick without too much cost :(

Tried this lot? From the canon site.

I was quoted a 7-10 day turnaround and £160 plus parts :eek:by fixation but said it may be quicker but they are not allowed to commit to less before a camera has been seen.

Now the emabarrasing bit :embarrassed: - After receiving the cost I thought I better have another look at the diffuser and realised I was trying to fit it the wrong way around. There is a bit missing but it does fit and seems to be exposing OK (which it doesn't with it removed).

I might just persevere with it and if OK put it down to battle damage.

Can I thank you all for responding so quickly and being so helpful as usual.

:thankyou:

Hi,

Where are you? I could always book it in with H. Lehmanns of Stoke under my CPS membership number, they normally do services in less than 5 days for CPS members.

PM your details if you need help,
Carl.

Lucky you don't have an Olympus: a warranty repair took four damn weeks for me!

First I've heard of a diffuser, and I wouldn't have thought there'd be anything between the mirror and the focusing screen to impede a sharply focused image?

If it is just the focusing screen then they are pretty easily user replaceable through the lens opening.
