Help, dying dog needs photographing!!!

True.

Although I have to delete any photos of my kids if the lighting makes them look ginger at all:lol:

lol my youngest has an unfortunate (very washed out pale strawberry blonde) hair colour, nobody has asked why i always shoot her b&w but i think they secretly know and dont want to mention it lol

i like the pics of the poor dog by the way, such a shame any front on shot would be ruined by the tumour, my oldest husky is getting on now and i have to edit out a few little warts on her snout to get her beautiful face mask perfect again, i hope the dog isnt in pain with a toddler running round x

That poor beast needed putting down some while ago.

LOL!

Oh apparently this tumour started as a wart:-(
I'm going round this weekend to try and get some shots, I feel it will be my last opportunity:-(
I've been practicing some black background techniques and I'm hoping by shooting in b&w I can disguise the tumour, we'll see.

I'd have to agree that they have left it too long now:-( I wouldn't like to imagine how much pain he is in??

You could always just say no! Sometimes that is the best answer if you're not equipped and not experienced enough to do the job justice. You don't want to mess up something like this.

:plusone: good advice here:)

I went round a few weeks ago and took some more pictures of the dog. He's doing ok actually, they reckon he's got a few months left.

Not done any family shots though as they always seem busy, so they're not really that desperate. I'll try again soon, especially now spring is lurking, might be a good opportunity to get a family shot in the garden.

A few months?!? I'm not a vet but that can't be good....what is this poor pups quality of life like?

I find it very hard that the vet can let this poor dog go on.:shake:

It looks so unhappy and to have pictures of it is absolutely terrible and morbid.
If they were thoughful pet owners they would not let this dog suffer any more.

It's not my dog! I guess they will do what's right when the time comes!

The tumour looks pretty shocking and upsetting, and we can't know how much distress it's causing the poor beast, but if he were mine I would prefer to look at pre-tumour photos. (And I would risk him not surviving the op to get rid of the tumour - I think.)

i'd be inclined to edit the last picture, it would be fairly easy to edit out the tumour.

poor thing i have to agree i wouldnt let him carry on like this im aware how hard it is to let a beloved pet go ive just had to let my 8 yo rabbit go and that has been very hard but good on you for trying to give them one last photo to remember him by.

If you were closer you could have borrowed my lights

Thanks. Just curious though what lights do you have?

I really need to get round there again but I've just been so busy with returning to work.

My editing skills are somewhat limited, I've just got a book for CS5 so maybe I can teach myself how to edit out the tumour. Although shooting in B&W works quite well!

Last time I ever cried was when my Boxer died. Beautiful, daft, deaf (white) boy.

That poor fella needs peace. I remember our vet told us Max (our retriever) would tell us when the time came. We knew when the time was right. I sobbed like a child as I held him whilst it was done.
Well done for taking the shots.
I also remember the vet telling me, "we never own our pets. Thay are just on loan to us to care for and do the right thing for."

Kev.
