So here is a 100% crop of the area of an image I'm really struggling with.

I can't clone out the suction cup base and it's reflection well enough - the nature of the changing shade of the paintwork from light right to darker left and blending the colour is making it very tricky so I thought I'd ask the forum for help.

I'm not just after someone doing it for me but would appreciate some guidance in terms of tools used, specifically within Photoshop, and technique for anyone who is willing to give this a go and share their method. A link to download the 100 crop is here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9zrvkj6wzs7zd11/TGP_7300.jpg?dl=0

What I've tried predominantly is the clone stamp and patch tool alongside some smudging and blurring but have really failed to get something that doesn't look a bit of a mess :(.

Thanks in advance and looking forward to the forum's response :)

My first thought is make a rectangular selection from each side of the suction cup, copy each as new layer and move them over the suction cup then and stretch/warp to fit. Adjustment layers can tweak the colours/brightness to match.
You don't need to cover it all at once, you could do one set for the bonnet edge, erase the excess, then copy a new set from the original layer for each streak.
Should get you to a point where you can clone/heal to tidy up.

I used the clone stamp, and used reduced opacity to blend the different shades of colours. Some sections I selected an area and copied it over the part needing fixing, like the curve on the lower part of the wing. Patch tool to remove the water droplets (?) on the top of the wing.

That's very good and better than my best effort I have to say, I honestly didn't know you could reduce the opacity of the clone stamp tool - thank you! Back to playing with this file for me :)

Thanks, I enjoyed the challenge! Use the clone stamp and work in from either side of what it is you are trying to remove. You will end up with a "join" where the colour shades don't match. Drop the opacity down to 50-60% and work from each side until the join no longer shows. For the curved areas it is best to select a similar area, use free transform to rotate it and place in in the right place. As I worked through this I merged the working layers as I was fixing the different areas. It keeps it simpler that way. Good luck!!

Excellent, just the sort of post I was hoping for - I love this forum :)

Here's the whole image if you're curious :) with where I gave up last night - you can't really tell here due to the smaller size, but close up it doesn't look as polished - yet.

Happy to help. Great shot! Did you add the spent bullets a flame in post or did you manage to get them in shot? Do you mind me asking what this is for?

The cartridges and flashes were added in post :) This is essentially a bit of fun with my boss on his driveway

That's some driveway! Thought you were putting an image together for a film or something.
