Hello everyone,

I've posted uo here in the past about choosing a range of different lenses for wildlife photography for my DSLR. The feedback was to go for a 70-300mm Lens.

I have been looking around quite a bit, and was initially advised on the Tamron 70-300mm, which I can get for £289.99.
However, I have just seen a discount on a Canon lens online (£330.99), and was wondering which would be best for the money (as I am on a pretty tight budget- the Canon I could just about scrape together in the next few weeks).

This is the Tamron I've found: http://www.carmarthencameras.co.uk/product/7777/tamron-70-300mm-f4-5-6-sp-di-vc-usd-lens

This is the Canon I've found more recently: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-70-30...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1361453564&sr=1-1

I'm just wondering if the Canon is actually worth the extra money? and if someone could give advice on the differences between the two lenses and their strengths and weaknesses. (My camera is the Canon EOS 650D).
Also, if anyone knows where I can pick these lenses up for cheaper, that would be brilliant.

Thanks!

That's a good price for the Canon, but if you wait there's a good chance the price will go back up £20 or so.

Personally I'd choose the Canon as it gets a good write up on Ken Rockwell's site, but I don't know anything about the Tamron.

Hope I am not bemg a nuisance but if it were me I would go for a used sigma 100-300mm f4 ex lens.....superb for the money.

I'd recommend the Canon one over the Tamron lens.

I've been very pleased with mine, feels very robust and solidly built, the IS works well and am only selling it now as I'm upgrading and it's not getting used - seems a shame for it sat there doing nothing.

i recommend a longer focal length, i find 300mm just not good enough. pity got no pennies for a sigma 150-500
