Hi Folks,

I am looking at buying a budget tablet for my wife as she's mentioned once or twice she'd like one. I wasn't looking at spending too much as i'm not sure she'll use it too often but i had noticed the Google Nexus 7 £119 (not the latest one 7.2) and the Kindle Fire HD (last generation) that Amazon are selling for £99 and i was wondering if anyone has experience of these could point me in the right direction. Just so you know this tablet will be used mainly for browsing, emailing and keeping finances up to date with something like excel. That's about it. She doesn't watch films, play games etc.

Regards

Scott

If Currys still have stock, the Kobo Arc 7 is virtually the same spec as the older Nexus 7, it's £79 with £10 cashback, making it £69.

In some ways it's better than the N7, it has a better touchscreen and much better speakers, probably the best speakers on any 7" tablet I've had (both versions of the N7, original iPad mini, the Samsung tab 7" and the Kindle Fire HD).

I have the Nexus and love it. a friend has the kindle and now wishes she had got the same as i did if that helps

What about the HUDL at Tescos for £119, same OS as the older Nexus and gets good reviews

Even better if you have clubcard vouchers, only sixty quids worth needed as they can be doubled up on this item

my lad wanted to move from his 10" Asus to a 7" so I sold it and chose him the Arc 7 on the current Currys/PCW deal..

well WOW what an amazing little tablet for the money, screen is excellent, touch is smooth and snappy, CoD Zombies, GT Racing 2 and GTA3 run super smooth, Netflix and FilmON tv again run perfect.. it has really surprised me how capable it is, solid build too.. it has its flaws like no bluetooth, hdmi or microsd slot but if you can live without them I doubt you will find better for the money, lots of the positive reviews were based at £139

Agreed, I only bought it because it was a known brand at a super cheap price.

I was only going to use it as a ebook reader in the car, however the quality is much better than that and I've ended up using it for browsing, email, SkyGo and iPlayer as well.

Considering it's the performance of the original Nexus 7 at the price of a no-name Chinese tablet it really is a huge bargain.

just shifting this into computery stuff guys :) Like the look of that Arc 7 for the price though :)

I just picked up the previous generation Kindle Fire HD for £100 from the Argos and I'm happy with it. All I wanted it for really was for reading and internet stuff and it does it all really well.
