Calling all those who present to an audience !!

My local camera club is looking for a projection system (PC and projector) to replace the current one. We have had some presenters who have “complained” that their images were not being displayed properly. We see these presenters as knowing what they are talking about so this is no idle talk.

Requirements are :
• A total system (PC and projection system) that can be calibrated and proved to be displaying properly
• Room is about 10m by 10m
• Projector is situated about 5m from the screen
• Room has windows which has curtains but not blackout blinds
• Total system needs to be portable as it is kept in store room and used twice each week (might also be taken to other locations)
• We are based in UK so would need maintenance/support contracts as well as purchasing from there

Can anybody offer me help as I was “volunteered” to find new solution.

calibrated equiptment is essential for getting good reslts. also image submited for projection should use the srgb prifile , otherwise the results can be upreditable when projected. and the last point is that poeple still think that a data prjector is like a slide projector they are completly different techonolgies.

before you make a large investment in new computer and projection equiptment , try to pursade the power to get hold of a colormunki , even if you get new equiptment it will still be useful.

cheers Steve

xrite or gretag i1 - colour profiling unit will profile projectors (with the correct colour and brightness) - though there are a number of different options... your exsisting projector and computer are probably fine - try with the calibrator first before you buy anyting. You could also "rent" the unit out to members to get their screens calibrated too...

This is the option you need to add to a i1 pro

definitely calibrate your existing kit first, and see if that works, before you shell out on new gear. even if you do end up getting a new projector that in no way mean you need to change the laptop as well.

Thanks all.

Spoke to the guy that is involved in marketing material production at the company I work for. He put me in tough with a company that does audio visual work for them. They are going to get try and get me some projectors to try out.

I think the current one is 5 years old so since technology has moved on since then, a new one is probably in order. A calibration tool is a definite - they have used my Spyder for laptops but it does not handle projectors. So wil also get a new one for projectors too.

I use my Spyder3 Elite for calibrating my Epson EB-1735W. I use it in combination with a Draper portable pop-up high contrast projection screen.

I choose the Epson projector at the time as it has the same native resolution as my Macbook Pro and Macbook Air 1440x900 which also helps towards perfection and a simplified presenter view.

In addition the Epson is a wireless model which helps having the laptop in a different location compared to the screen itself.

With the Spyder3 Elite you can also do a multiple screen match profile such that if you had say 3 network projectors like the Epson one I've got. You can match them all to have the same color reproduction.

There is probably a more current model now, but mine still works fine and has enough power to do its thing without drawing the curtains etc.

It could be that you only need a software update for your Spider.
