just took delivery off a 400D
It will not work...
The shutter works without the lens ..but when the lens is on it wont...
please tell me its something simple and that i dont have to send it back..
totally pi---d off ...
HELP..
 
what lens?
oh and make sure the battery is charged

and what happens when you try to take a pic?
ERR code?
all the lights go out?
what?
 
battery is full ..the lens is the standard canon zoom 18-55mm

I have just removed the lens and flicked up the little glass plate inside the body.
it must have been stuck
it is now working..
is this common..

the mirror is silver surfaced - be v v careful
it's not common - not unheard of though

no i lifted it from the bottom ..the frame of it..
well its time to start learning what all these switches and buttons do..
thats if i can get it off the wife..
I / we are new to this, so you will probably get bored of answering, what will probably be very simple questions ..
but i am looking forward to learning and hopefully taking some very nice pics..

would you have any idea where i can get the software package for the same 400d..
it was an ex display model and didnt come with the discs..
 
should have come with discs though!
 
welcome to the forums!! dont be afraid of asking such questions...we were all new to it once :)
 
RAW is a file format, just like JPEG, only RAW is data.

JPEG's are essentially the end product of RAW's as the camera gets the data and creates an image from it. But you can take your shots in RAW which means its easier to process on your computer as rather than changing pixels that are set like stone, you are changing data which is just like a load of numbers. Therefore making RAW more flexible but a much larger file format
