HELP - BROKEN D750

Hi All

Had my D750 a week.

Went on a rig session today on a nice quiet road. Out of nowhere, a car comes the otherway and knocks the camera. Camera falls, and now won't focus.

I'm gutted!

Where do I go from here? I don't know what ti do, who to contact or where to get it repaired

Help
 
Insurance ? some home policy's cover personal belongings away from home
 
I've used fixation a few times! Always had good service personally!!!
 
Sorry to hear about this. Sounds nasty. Was there any damage to the vehicles?

Not sure that insurance would cover the use of things like rigs on the open, public road and indeed the car insurance might well be invalid due to the extra bits on the car involved.

Maybe I should have said.. Did you not have the appropriate insurance?

I fear the from the OP's question that he is an enthusiast who has just come unstuck, not just in regard to his prized possession getting damaged but also if the other driver stopped and exchanged details...........................................because such rig photography would likely have voided his motor car cover for all parties i.e. he is liable for all vehicle damages (if any?). Insurers have their way of making the cover highly specific especially in respect of exclusions.

I hope I am wrong and that the OP is fully covered for all eventualities???

It was a slow motion run to catch it, I wasn't quick enough. No damage to any vehicle no, just camera body. Lens is fine, teated that on another camera. The body won't focus through the eye cup, but will focus on live view. When i mean focus, the little red dots don't appear, just a red flash on the screen. If you look through the eye cup and move the camera aroubd focusing on a static object, I've found it will focus when you put the item more to the right of the viewfinder. In live view, the camera is 100%.

I do have rig insurance yes, luckily it wasn't needed.

That's fair enough that you got quoted more than your regular repairer quoted, but you're the only one on that thread with a bad word to say about them. Myself and many other pros would always use Fixation. They come highly regarded among the photography community. The lack of shop windows is irrelevant though.

How were they incompetent? You didn't have the repair carried out by them.

They were incompetent because they said the sensor needed replacing and insisted so (please read the post) when it did not at all. Recipts shown as evidence. Sendean said nothing wrong with the sensor and Sendean were correct. Whether or not I am the only one who has a bad word to say on here about Fixation or not is erelevant to the facts of the matter. The post has been made because it is a fact not an opinion that Fixation are incompetent.The evidence has been posted for the benifit of others. :clap:

Seems about right - if you do a search for those parts, they are not much cheaper 2nd hand.

How? When? You posted on Sunday that your camera was broken; you said on Monday that you had sent it to Nikon. So how were Fixation able to examine the camera and produce a quote?
