Grrr......its bad enough using the blimmin camera in the first place but my god is the "get back home and upload" stage getting me down:help:

So please help....

Got canon DPP and PSE6. I initially had a problem saving a raw file to jpeg (in pse6) here so took some advice and changed the "mode" to 8bits from 16bits which then allowed me to save as a normal jpeg.

Converted a pic to black & white and it looks great on the monitor but when I print it, its pale. Ive printed before successfully although not from a converted raw file, so what am I doing wrong? :bang:

Thanks anyone :)

Thanks Kevin....its doing my head in!!

printer is bog standard 3 in 1 crap but no way can I afford to change it....
paper is epson and so is ink
I suppose I could try increasing the contrast but not the perfect solution. I'm going to upload to photobox in a mo and see what the qualities like...

Is the printer set to photo print quality? check it's not set to normal or draft quality.

The problem may be down to a miss match between your printer and monitor.

When you print the same image as a colour one does it come out OK?

What printer do you have? If it's an Epson there are some adjustments in the printer dialogue box under advanced settings. This enables you to make some adjustments for the printer. This may help.

Another " down and dirty" technique you could use is to view your print next to the monitor. Adjust the brightness and contrast settings until the screen matches the print. Don't save the resultant image but make a note of the settings used and apply the opposite values just before you print . Not ideal but "Hey if it works" !!! You could save that as an action ( I don't know if you can do that in PSE6) and apply it when you need to print an image.
