Well, not actually CS3, but I'll explain...

I am going to get some test print done and need to assign a colour profile as downloaded from the print company's website. I've done this, and put it in the correct folder on my Mac. I've then restarted the Mac (not sure if this was necessary, but i'm old skool mac and you always used to have to).

However, when I goto "asign profile" in PS CS3, the one I need isn't in the list.

Any ideas?

The folder I put it in is library > coloursync > profiles

The profile that came from the lab, did the profile end as .icc or .icm. If it did then this may be why the Mac, didn't see them. Mac profiles tend to end as .pf. Now I know you can change Mac profiles to ,icc etc without any problems, but I'm not sure that you can do it the other way around.

I don't have access to a Mac at the moment ( yes I'm ambidextrous ) so I can't check it out for you .

Have a look in the profiles folder and see what extensions they are using

I'm also wondering why you want to assign profiles from a lab. Most labs accept images in the standard sRGB or Adobe colour space.

Thanks. The profile did have the extension icc. And they say to download the profile and assign it to the file before sending. I will continue poking around, see if I can get it to show.

It is dscl :)

I'm using OSX 10.5.5

I can't help with the Mac/Photoshop/Profile problem but I use DSCL and just leave the images in sRGB and the results are fine. The profile is most useful for soft proofing the results on screen.

Cheers :) In that case I shall leave them as is and give it a whirl. Kind of exciting (and also a little scarey) to see how some of my shots come out on paper.

I suspect the profiles are put on the web site for "Soft Proofing" . Probably do as pxl8 says. Leave them as sRGB and see what the results look like.
