Help! Any difference between these two lenses

Yes
For the past couple of weeks my research into my first DSLR has led to the Nikon D40.
Tonight, I am considering the Pentax K200D (auto bracketing being the main thing I was looking forward to). I have discovered a couple of lenses at Jessops - they seem to have a similar spec, please can someone confirm?

Well, there are good and bad copies of both lenses around, but I've just placed an order for the Tamron. Bargain price and I've owned that lens in Canon and Nikon fit before and found it to be great value for money.

Of course, ANY zoom at that price is going to have some negatives - it won't be the fastest to focus and apparently there are some purple fringing issues, but neither of those particularly worry me, and for the price you really cannot argue!

Cheers,
James

The only difference is 1 lens is APO and 1 is not.

APO is Sigma's name for low dispersion glass which is used to minimise colour abberation (fringing)

Weird! When I clicked on your second link before, I could have sworn I got the Tamron - I had literally just been finished up paying for mine, so I must have got confused!

To briefly answer your question (correctly) - the APO versions of those lenses are supposed to be better quality. That would be the one to go for out of the two if possible, but my comment about the Tamron still stands - worth a look!

To bed, I think!

Cheers,
James

Many thanks!
Another choice to make. :)
Anyone care to comment on the relative merits of the Tamron over the Sigma?
Back in my days of 35mm, Tamron were, I thought, one of the better pattern manufacturers - better than the Vivitars I had (still have come to that).
Where does opinion lie on Tamron v Sigma?
