Hi everyone,

This is my first time posting on this site. My question is a simple one, I need help and advice buying a camera. The criteria I have are;
  • I can only afford secondhand - budget £200 max! (I know some of you spend more on your bags than that, let alone lenses!!!)
  • I'd like the best quality make I can afford at that price
  • Body and lens
  • Durable
  • Any reliable and reputable online dealers you could recommend please
  • That's it!
I am interested in photographing anything. A few of my influences are; Bert hardy, Garry Winogrand, William Eggleston, William Gedney, Robert Frank, Raymond Moore, Paul Strand, Margaret Bourke -White, The Bechers, Jeff Wall, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Edward Weston, Cindy Sherman, Robert Capa, Thomas Struth, Wolfgang Tilmans, Wim Wenders, Helmut Newton etc...

I hope someone can help...

Thanks, Wills

Here's a DSLR search priced low to high from LCE

Whether you'd prefer Sony vs Canon vs Nikon is for you to decide but Canon/Nikon is probably a 'safe' bet for what you want. Watch some of the cheaper Nikon bodies regarding AF compatibility with lenses..... Someone who knows their Nikon stuff will tell you more.

In the past I've bought used items from.....

London Camera Exchange
MPB
Ffordes
Camera Jungle

Welcome :)

Hi Wills and welcome to TP :)

In addition to Lee's post above, please appreciate that there is a learning curve on regard to using any camera and getting the best out of it.....plus in the age of digital, getting to grips with using editing (post processing) software to achieve the final image you are trying to create.

Sorry if I have stated the obvious and that you are all prepared to start your photographic journey.
