Hi all,

I am just getting my drobo fs setup how I want it and I have a couple of questions to ask. Hoping some of you will be able to help me out!

1. I want Drobo to show up as a drive on my desktop (just like Macintosh HD and my Time Machine drive both have an icon on the desktop when connected) For some reason I don't seem to be able to make this happen?

2. So far when storing stuff on the drobo I have been browsing to it using finder and then under the shared section I have clicked Drobo-FS. Once connected (shows as connected as guest, is this right?) I browse into a Public share and this is where I have stored stuff? Again not sure if this is right.

First time I have played about on my Mac doing this type of stuff and also first time I have used a Drobo properly so apologies for the NOOB questions :bonk:

Ok, had a bit of a look around and found the following - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqARDLaw9ag

Looks pretty simple, I have created a share called Documents and created a user account with my name and given it permission to see the share.

I can then browse to the share and select remember user name and password in keychain as per the video, then when I double click the share it doesnt mount it automatically as per the video? Any thoughts?

Only just found this,

I have a drobo ( bog standard ) connected to my mac via a FireWire connection. It's formatted to provide a drive for time machine and one for back up and both showed up on my desktop automatically. They also mount every time the mac starts so they're always visible to me. Not sure why you were having problems.

Interested to hear what you did to solve it. I'm considering selling the drobo soon and changing up for the thunderbolt version that's due to be announced.

Maybe post what it was so that anyone else in your situation can figure it out? :)

Sorted point two but not really point one. Still havent quite worked out how to have it mount as per the video I linked to above. Mine is the FS so is not directly connect to my pc as yours is via firewire. Its connected to my gigabit switch which my imac also connects into.......not sure if this should make a difference.

Still
