Hi peeps

I am currently using a canon 40D with kit for my newly started business... i have been running 18mths now and things are going great studio work is busy now flat out for christmas!! :)

I'm looking into getting the 5D with kit

http://www.warehouseexpress.com/buy-canon-eos-5d-mark-ii-with-ef-24-105mm-f4-0l-is-usm-lens/p1028290

mainly for weddings... most wedding take place in dingy dark hotels and i hate grain and noise which with my 40D i seem to get tons of i use my 50mm 1.2 but as i'm using it at 1.4/1.2 its too soft and not how i want it!

What i'm getting at is am i making the right choice??? its tons of money, i have had a borrow of a friends so i know its awesome.... also would it be worth hiring for a couple of weddings to make sure???

i man i wish i had a rich uncle LOL

many thanks Shel

Just to check, you're running a wedding photography business and you only have one body....?

no no i have a back up camera then once (if) i buy the 5d the 40d would be the back up..

I have been in studio portrait business for nearly 2 yrs now and am now moving into weddings though people demand (big deal for me)

I know i have loads to learn i never hide that fact but the passion is there!!!

i will always listen to FRIENDLY advice!!

Yes, just buy it. There are many professional wedding photographers using the 5D mkII.
The image quality is amazing. Personally I'd go for the 24-70 f/2.8 instead of the 24-105, but that is just me. The 24-70 rarely leaves my 5DmkII.

Without starting a Nikon v Canon debate, a number of wedding togs have gone from Canon to the D700. Probably one of the best cameras for low light.

Moving to Nikon now would possibly be too much of a change.

One thing to remember of course, if you get tons of use out of your 50 f/1.2, this will need to change to somethink like the 85 f/1.2 in order to get the same reach (you might be more comfortable standing in the same place you currently stand). This is apparently £1660 on CPB

I upgraded from a 30D with Tamron 17-50 2.8 to a 5D2 with 24-70 L 2.8, and the difference, especially for weddings, was phenomenal!

I heartily recommend the 5D2
