Help a newbie buy a camera

Just get any relatively new and well looked after camera and you can't really go wrong.

You realise it is like asking what is the best 4 seater car for £20k, there is no best.

Best thing to do, get networking with friends and family to see who has what DSLR's or mirrorless cameras and ask them politely if you can have a play.

Doesn't have to be in your price range, can simply be a family test initially. See if you can get on better with Canon or play nicely with Nikon. If you want to go down a different route, Sony are very highly received as of recent so they are worth checking out. You get alot of bang for your buck in the used market with Sony. Same with Nikon, you can use all the old cheaper lenses with the newer DSLR's, very useful for budget photography!

£350 might be an easier budget to work around and don't be afraid of buying a camera body on it's own. Lenses can sometimes be a dime a dozen, especially in the secondhand market!

Nikon D80s are a fantastic used buy.
