Hi

Please help spent all night trying and still won't work. Cannot view my raw files from a 5d mark 2 camera in bridge cs3.

I used to use a dng converter to convert the cr2 files to dng. I could then view them in Bridge. Until today that is. For some reason I can convert them to dng files, but when I try and view them as thumbnails I cannot view them.

This is really driving me bonkers now to be polite. I could use some more choice language right now but will keep it clean.

HELP ME PLEASE:bang::bang::bang::bag::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::gag:

I reckon...You need to put the latest plug in, in. Although this wouldn't explain it suddenly not working.

I'll try and find it for you.

Try this http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4219

Not sure its the most up to date, follow the instructions.

OR in Bridge, go to help and there should be an Updates thing. Thats all I can think it is.

There is no plug in for CS 3 I believe. I have CS3 and a 5D2 and I have to convert my CS2files to Adobe DNG. You can download Adobe DNG converter free from the Adobe web site, but it's a seperate programme and not a plug-in. If Squizza comes up with something better I will be very interested.

Edit: Just read your post all the way through. Perhaps uninstall and re-install adobe converter will work?

Are you saying its just suddenly stopped working, or that it never worked in the first place?

Sorry Sarah, need to remember to read the posts properly!

Have you tried importing them as CR2 RAW without the dng conversion?

I just can't figure out what it would be. I updated the RAW thing on my copy of elements 5 (OLD - ages and ages ago) and I'm pretty sure that because the 50D and 5D mk II were out roughly the same time Adobe addressed the problem with a RAW update.

EDIT: I think Nigel's right....a lot of people are saying that there is no Update for CS3. Which would be stupid because people can't afford to update software like that!

Only with CS4 I believe??
And CS5 of course! ;-(

So, maybe the DNG converter has got corrupted or something, so as I suggested earlier un-install and re-install may be worth giving a go? Good luck.

For what it's worth: I had CS2 when I got my 5D mk11 and had to use the DPP that came with the camera to process the raw files. I upgraded to CS5 and I'm not looking back (still on a big learning curve due to age of CS2). it's well worth going without sherbets for a while to pay for it!!! Hope you sort the problem out missmoloko.

Check the type of DNG file you are converting. It's in the DNG converter preferences . From memory CS3 would only handle files that were in the ACR 4.xx range. Try either 4.6 or 4.1

Hi

Thanks for all the advice. I did try all the different preferences yesterday but still nothing seemed to work.

But for some bizarre reason today it appears to be working fine. Stupid computers why do things always go wrong just when you could do without the hassle!!
