Hi everyone
A quick intro about me.
I live in London and am on the right side of 60...so a very late starter.
I've always appreciated good photography although never thought I had an eye for it myself. That said I recently decided to buy some second hand equipment to see if I could take some decent photos. I bought a Canon eos 80D, some Canon lenses(70-200 f/4, 18-135mm and a dinky little 'pancake' 24mm) along with some books (for dummies) a tripod and a bag. I've also watched hours of interesting YouTube videos too. I'm slowly beginning to get my head around the technicalities of photography. It has been daunting but I'm taking it in very slowly .
I have to say one thing I've discovered is that photography can take up a lot more time than I thought and get you out early, home late and traveling some distance from home and that it also requires lots of patience....so far I've been enjoying it.
I had a trip to central Norway in February and took my camera equipment with me. I took some pics of the night sky with the 24mm lens and was surprised at the results. Not good by amateur standards but they really gave me a confidence boast.
I rode my motorbike down to Beachy Head last week and spent the afternoon taking some pictures of the cliffs and lighthouse( I was going to stay late and try more astrophotography but it was getting very cold and I had a long ride home on the bike...) I'm planning a trip to Stonehenge in the coming weeks....I've found myself watching the weather forecast now specifically for photographic reasons... so as soon as there's a good forecast I'll be back on the bike heading west hoping to get some Stonehenge sunset/sunrise shots.
I've tried street photography in central London, night photography, astrophotography, birds, dogs, lynxes(Norway) architecture, motorbikes etc and enjoyed and learnt something every time, but what I seem to enjoy the most is landscape photography.
I'm at the start of a long learning curve which I'm enjoying immensely.....my whole way of seeing things has changed as I'm looking at light, lead lines, angles etc.
Anyway, I've joined your forum hoping to gain some knowledge and an insight into something I'm hoping to improve on and continue enjoying.
Thanks in advance for any daft questions of mine you may answer.
Regards
Boonie
