I have been reading the forum for a while & feel ready to take part.

I am based in Derby, in the East Midlands of the UK.

I have been a dabbler in photography since my teens - in the early 70s! - starting out with a Zenith 'E'. I now work between the digital & analogue worlds with my Nikon D5000 & Canon A1. Neither make me a good or even average photographer but sometimes, I get that lucky shot!

had a D5000 before the Nikon D300 - nice.
now on my 2nd Canon A-1 (having sold the first on here - then regretting it.........:)

if not already - you'll find the addition of a 'finger grip' and a soft release button to be more comfortable.....

Hello David, don't be shy :welcome: Enjoy the forum

Thanks for the welcome and the suggestion. Not familiar with the finger grip & soft release but will investigate - the A1 has the grip that covers the battery compartment, is that what you mean by finger grip?

Never come across soft release before - found one on eBay. For a couple of quid, worth trying it out. I do like the idea now I know what it is!
