Hi, I'm a total newbie to photography but i bought my first dslr today with the intention of starting a new chapter in my life. It's a nikon d3100, not the best as I'm sure I'll find out but I'll work up to something better when skillset demands. I am very open to critisism and I really want to learn all I can as I've always wanted to get into photography as a hobby. I look forward to the massive amounts of advice I will be needing.

I also have a Nikon D3100. Had it since Christmas and I absolutely love it. Would never buy anything other than a Nikon. I am sure, like me, you will learn little bits here and there and grow to love your camera like I love mine!
I also recommend joining a local camera club if you have one nearby as they are always SO helpful and let you try out new things with your cam that you never knew about!

Hi jaybenno & photo_heather! I'm a newbie also and I also own a D3100!! I am very pleased with it so far, such a massive step-up from compacts. As far as hobbies go, this has got to be the most rewarding/frustrating mix ever - even golf wasn't this hard!!!
