Hi all! I actually found this forum through the iPhone app in iTunes. I loaded it on my phone and then realized this site was based in the UK. I live and work in Florida, US, but I hope that you won't mind if stick around and make myself at home. If it helps, I have English cousins! (And my ancestors are, as best I have been able to trace, from England, possibly one or two over on the Mayflower.)

You all seem so friendly and encouraging, which seems to be an anomaly from most of the forums that I have seen based around here.

I took some photog classes in college 20 or so years ago, but I mostly used what I learned to take photos of my kids as they grew. In 2008, I purchased my first DSLR, the Pentax K10D. I have since (mostly) switched over to Nikon, and now I shoot with the D7000. I am involved in a strobist group here in the Tampa area of Florida, and try to learn something every time I go out to shoot.

Theres plenty of members from the other side of the pond, it is mostly UK but we have may members from everywhere in the world, so stick around post some of your work, we'd love to see it,, LOL I have a K1000 SLR 35mm film fab camera

Thank you, Dave. My first SLR was a K1000 that I bought at a pawn shop! I loved it!

I switched to Nikon after becoming dissatisfied with the ISO capabilities of Pentax. The D7000 has solved that problem!
