Hello everyone! I was recommended here by the bass player in my band who's the husband of one of the members here lizzy23.
I was gifted an old Nokon D50 for xmas and after doing a lot of reading around on places like this have picked up some of the basics, but have quickly come to the realisation that the more you learn, the more you realise there is to learn in relation to photography!
The first thing I found out about was bokeh and found myself really drawn to any pictures with a narrow dof so I got a relatively cheap 35mm 1.8 Nikkor prime, and it hasn't been off the camera since. I was amazed how much of a difference it made to my pics straight away and what not having a zoom did for the way I look for stuff to shoot.
I'm still learning as much as I can and will be reading the forums as much as I can, but for now here's a picture of a cat that I quite like
