Hi everyone just wanted to say a quick hello as a newbie :) I've been lurking around for a while and have found this forum extremely interesting and very helpful! I've been interested in photography for years but only just trying to understand how things really work instead of just pointing and shooting! thanks for your tips, comments, help in advance!

Hiya! at the moment its all about babies since i have an 8 month old and many of my friends have just had babies too! :) i have a canon 60d, 28-135 IS USM lens, 70-200L F4, and cheap nifty fifty. Got me a couple of flashes too 420EX and 580EX II. Been doing some experiments with a home studio and have seen a few threads on setting one up and lighting. Have been very helpful! Have also recently bought a MacBook, until now I've not really done any post production - used gimp a few times but found it difficult. Will be looking into software for the MacBook mainly to help get the white background actually white! thanks for reading!

You won't need software to get the back ground white, you will need the right white balance set on your camera and correct lighting techniques. You have some decent glass and flashes for you camera so with help you will get the results your looking for in no time ;-)

Sounds great!! Looking forward to learning about lighting  and getting those backgrounds white without editing :) - ideal for me since Ive never really edited my photos! will have a look around the forum and see what i can find then try n post some pics for feedback :) thanks!

The edit looks very good to me.

thanks :) just a few minor adjustments in iPhoto which were fairly easy to do. I think my uneven lighting comes from the fact that the 420EX is auto only. Still looking for tips to improve the background without editing.
