What section are you trying to post in?

You don't get PM access until you have made a number of posts. This is to stop spammers abusing the PM system :)
 
I was trying to post in the classfoed section and pm one of the vendors but that explains it, thanks ......time to start posting then :)
 
Make sure you don't post just to get the required number of posts. The classifieds is looked on as a bonus for participating members of the forums, and others in the past who make their 100 posts in a day or so with banal replies to threads often find they still cannot access the classifieds.

Welcome to TP. As others have already mentioned, certain sections are locked to post count and duration of membership.
