 Hi, my name is Dawn and I am new to Talk Photography and to be honest this is the first time I have used a forum so I am a fledgling to this part of cyberworld

Any guidance will be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks

D

Well you found the smilies so yer well on your way :)

:D i did find the smilies, but that is an old trick i am already familiar with

finding my way round the forum is the tricky bit .... but practice makes perfect

Hi Dawn, same boat as you . Just joined and totally lost in this. Hope all works out well,

Hi Dave, thanks. Welcome then from another newby  and I also hope it works out for you.

I stayed up till late last night trying to find my feet on the forum, but think I still need a lot of practice, taking baby steps for now

I have a keen interest in taking photographs and have decided to persue it more seriously. Don't have any fancy photographic equipment (yet) and mainly use my mobile phone camera (which isn't bad at taking pics) and has Carl Zeiss Optics (which I heard was good when I bought the phone).

I also use my now very tired Kodak Easy Share DX4530 (which is now probably a dinasaur as far as cameras are concerned).

So it is definitely time to upgrade, but I don't want to rush into any unnecessary purchases and am going to do my research first.

Take care and I hope you find you have a great time here.

Dawn

Good on you, I was the same knew nothing but always loved pictures and graphics. Sick of driving a desk all day and decided I needed a hobby. Walked past the magazines in ASDA and saw this cracking picture on front cover of Digital Camera mag and I thought Aye aye that looks good....! I bougth it and was hooked. My daughter calls me Norris the ex wife calls me.....!!~ Lets not go there haha. I know what you mean about camera choice I was bamboozled and decided to go for Sony Alpha 200 first then moved up. Hope you take to it and best of look in your new interest. Dave

 why Norris??? Anywayz .... you have got me thinking .... magazines could be something to consider buying, will have a nosey on the forum to see which ones peeps rate best.

Actually when I come to think of it, I have many camera's around the house not used in ages (not sure if I can still get film for them either, lol)

I even have a really old Polaroid SX-70 Land Camera (with the leather case)

And recently, was given a old Konica Autoreflex TC with fancy lens (including film inside) haha

I was out again today taking photos and I am dying to post some here for comments, but not sure if that is a bit hastey, and think I maybe need to build some confidence first.

But then I was thinking ...... even the professional photographers had to start somewhere ..... and a good photographer should be able to to a good picture, regardless of what equipment they are using (you know the old saying......'a bad workman, blah blah blah)

What do you think?

Dawn

I think thats spot on. No one was born to walk talk and speak its what we learn on the journey that counts. Pro`s as you say, have to start somewhere. I was told its not the quality of your kit its the composition and the ability to spot a good scene, being self critical is the best mentor you can have.
You get the Norris theme now ? Its not the looks its the mentality.

Indeed, Norris  and thanks for the motivation :) I think I may just take the plunge and post some very amature pics tonight. :thankyou: Dave for the encouragement.

Hi Dawn, and :welcome: to the craziest photo forum on Earth :).
